r u a guy or a girl? what r u looking to do in florida? i live outside ft lauderdale, been here 5 yrs and cant wait to leave next month. but if all u really want is to party for a bit and experience all sorts of crazy stuff then lauderdale could work out for u. if u want to move here and really try to build a life and a career then i would say never move here. i know nothing about daytona.

i debated those two cities also and decided on daytona. I found lauderdale to be very expensive, very few apartments available, and at higher risk of hurricanes. If i had big bucks i would try lauderdale just for the warmer weather.
I love it here in daytona/port orange, esp. with driving on the beach.

I live in the Daytona area. I think you'd be able to do okay here. It's not as expensive as many other areas. And it's also very nice and there are great beaches. Also, if you look at the hurricane probability map Daytona has a lower hurricane risk. http://www.floridahurricane.net/

If you are a "college" guy, then go to Ft. Lauderdale. Daytona doesn't have too many professionals and college kids roaming around, other than during bike week (professionals) and spring break (well, they used to have spring break there). I dated a girl out of college that moved to Daytona, and she was miserable there. It was too low rent for her. I find the place quite entertaining, myself.

Well, in Daytona you'll definitely have cheaper rent. In Ft. Lauderdale, however, you'll probably have more fun and things to do... especially with Miami close by when you need a change of scenery from Ft. Lauderdale!
