Sun Viking Lodge. Best place for families. No wild drunken partying. Just great family fun. Kids love the water slide. Beach is clean and waves are awesome.

What is your price range?

Also, biketoberfest is in mid-october and hotels will be tripling their prices then so unless you are coming for the motorcycle convention, i would plan around that.

Daytona/Ormond Beach Area's Newest Oceanfront Resort, Best Western Castillo Del Sol, formerly the Ivanhoe Beach Resort, best rates and great value, millions in renovation just completed, great value, beautiful jacuzzi suites and over-sized oceanfront

We stayed here. Ground floor by the pool and the rooms were huge. I'd recommend it for sure.

Biketoberfest Biketoberfest Daytona Beach Florida is the 15th through the 18th. If that's when you had planned your trip, you shouldn't let that deter you. It's a much smaller event than Bike Week in March, which was down by 50% this year and even the normally congested areas weren't. There will still be a few thousand bikes in the greater Daytona area, but they gravitate to the Main St. area & US 1 in Ormond (mainland.)

I'd stay in Ormond Beach, north of SR 40, where the beach is traffic-free. Here's a suggestion:
Coral Beach Resort Hotel They are increasing their rate from $80 to $130 for Biketoberfest weekend.

Your 5 year-old might get a kick out of the carnival-like atmosphere on Main Street & at the Iron Horse, but some of the loud bikes and bearded, tattooted riders could be very scary for a 2 year-old. However, the behavior, dress and language is nothing worse than I see & hear out of teenagers at the mall.

Hope you have a great time, whenever you decide to visit!

Perry's Ocean Edge is also nice. If you are coming at the end of October and the weather is on the cool side (possible in late October) they have an indoor heated pool. Their rooms are big too and its very clean.
