I work in a job where I talk to people from all over the US. I spoke with a man from Sturbridge, Mass. They are expecting 8 inches of snow today. I am going to the beach tomorrow. What else needs to be said?

We got snow, freezing rain, snow, freezing rain and hail with temps from 5 to 25 last night.
My truck was literally under a sheet of ice and snow I could peel it off.
Level 2 snow emergency meaning your not allowed on the road unless your going to or from work or an emergency.
This is getting old and that darn Lindsey lady keeps saying things like I am laying by the pool today? I am going to the beach tomorrow? Dont you feel bad Lindsey????
Someone please trade me, I will come to Florida and you can come live in my house, 4 bdr 2 1/2 bath 1800sq ft, pool ( summer time use only ), heck you can even have my new truck, I just want to be warm and not have to fight this crap anymore.

I will keep you in my thoughts as I load up my ice chest, my favorite lounge, my daughters beach toys and lay about the beach all day. I normally have a hard time sleeping but with the rhytm of the waves hitting the beach, I fall right off to sleep laying there in the sun. The only thing missing is the fact that I will be at a beach where I must wear a bathing suit. One of these days I will get someone to take care of my daughter and visit the clothing optional beach down by Cape Canaveral.
See you soon !! Probably not soon enough though.

Floridabound09, I definitely do feel bad for you. I just missed that storm up there, I'm glad I left last weekend and not this one, or I would be digging out the Penske and my car right now, my original move date was yesterday!!! I bumped it up a week just because I was dying to get here...
As I watched the weather last night and saw what you all got up there I had to smile, but the same time I thought of you and Tarastomsgirl... I know you are hating it. They got 11 inches where I just left. WHEW!!! I barely missed that one. Too bad you can't get here sooner.

Thinking of relocating

Hi, am a nurse looking to relocate to FL. I was wondering what the pay rates are and what the work environment is like there. What part of Florida are you in? Are you an RN and a staff nurse? I am an RN with 13 yrs of experience. Thanks!

Hi, I am a single mom and nurse looking to relocate to FL. What part of Florida are you in? And if you get around to going to the clothing optional beach, take me with you! I would love to do that at least once before I die!
Thanks!

Sorry, can't trade you unless you feel like living in northern NJ, which is just as cold with a little bit less snow. I am currently sitting here in my living room and although I'm inside I am still freezing. I don't come out at all from approximately November through pretty much April unless I absolutely have to. Are you going to move to Florida? I would like to but interviewing for and lining up a job are going to prove challenging. How do you interview from another state? I am trying to set up phone interviews. I would love to have to sell my snowblower and shovels!

Hi,
The pay rate over here in Florida isnt as good as it is in other states but we dont pay income tax )
With 13 years experience you could be looking at about maybe $21-$22 an hour...this is a guesstimate as different hopsitals are different. When I first came over I had 14-15 yrs experience and I was offered anything from $21-$25 an hour base rate. of course weekends and nights and 3rd shift pay a little extra.
I live in Vero Beach on the east coast and i LOVE it - i dont regret it for a minute. I have been here 2 1/2 years and taking my first trip back to the UK to see my family and I am looking forward to going there but wanting to get back here too lol
I am a RN which is basically a staff nurse. The 2 places i have worked at here are very nice. I work in the local hospital on the Orthopedic floor and I am very happy where I am.
Dont hesitate to contact me by private message if you need more specific info ;-)

Moved to Florida
[quote=Floridabound09;632271]The purpose of this thread is to ask the following questions.
For those who moved to Florida from somewhere else and have been there for awhile could you please answer some of these and also add your own tidbits as well.
1. Where did you come from and how long have you been in Florida
Winnetka and Mundelein, IL - I was 11
2. What was the most important reason you moved to Florida?
With parents (we were 11, 10, 9, 6)
3. What make you pick the area you moved?
Father's work, however, as a grown up, I live 15 minutes from there.
4. How long did it take you to get comfortable with the move?
right away
5. If you had to do it over again would you still move, if no, would you have chosen another area in Florida? Yes

6. Is your "overall " life better or worse in Florida then where you moved from?
Yes
7. Would you recommend others move to Florida?
Yes

I would recommend San Diego Ca if you can afford it. Florida is pretty mismanaged and the local government is out of control with spending. I grew up in Ohio and feel that the school system was better managed there, but now it's gone down alot too. The school system down here is hit or miss depending on your area.
