Question Daytona Beach News Journal Local News Coverage?

As with most national local newspapers, the Daytona Beach News Journal has been reeling and faced with recent layoffs.

I cancelled my subscription a few months ago because I would attend meetings and events and find their stories only covered part of the story, if at all. This is very sad as many people rely on their local papers to cover things they can't attend. Now it means they're only getting part of the news (if at all).

Because Daytona Beach has become a "dumping ground" for the ills of the surrounding communities/cities (and wish Daytona taxpayers to pick up the tab as well), I feel the NJ has now abandoned the city to support editorial representing their readership and advertisers (and employees) in these areas instead. Meaning they've "sold out" to who butters their bread!

I don't think this is good for Daytona Beach. Maybe they should change their name to omit Daytona Beach to something like "Halifax Whor* & Happenings?"

If you live in the city of Daytona Beach, what do you think about our city coverage now? Do you think we're getting all the facts/facets on stories? Are we being "sold" a bill of goods that represent interests outside our city?

Maybe we need a new "underground" paper that represents us?

Not really concerned about opinions from people living in those double-wides in Port Orange, Holly Hill or Ormond Beach who think they're better than those who choose to live in Daytona Beach! (You're already getting everything you want right now!)
