Default Looking for housing in Gainesville

Can someone tell me the "up and coming" areas in Gainesville (zip codes or subdivisions)? Or where around the university would be nice to live (or will be). I'd like to buy either some land to build in three years and/or a house where teachers may rent for now. Thanks

The housing in the Gainesville area has skyrocketed recently. I don't know where you're coming from, but it's doubled from recent years. If you want to live in Gainesville itself you won't find any land to buy. Stay away from the east side of Gainesville--high crime area. NW and SW addresses are best. If you want land the best area to consider is Lacrosse, Alachua and High Springs (NW), but those areas are growing also. Lacrosse is still the only "undiscovered" area--there are scheduled subdivisions, but contruction hasn't started yet.
