DannysGal is on a distinguished road
Default St. Augustine trip!

Hey everyone my husband and I are planning a trip to St. Augustine in a few days and I have a few questions that someone may be able to answer for me.

First of all, Danny the storm. I am looking at weather.com and it is saying 40% scattered storms for Mon Tues and Wed... is this something I should be heavily concerned with? We are not surfers but are looking forward to laying on the beach and getting in at least shoulder deep to cool off when it gets too hot. Should we still be looking here or perhaps looking at a different beachy area? (We are a fly by the seat of your pants couple but have been wanting to see St. Augustine since all of our friends say it's a great place to visit!)

Also, we're wanting a hotel right on the beach or close enough to view from hotel room. I was looking at Castillo Real (or something like that..not on laptop so can't see exactly what it's called) and it had great reviews on hotels.com. We would love to be able to sit on a balcony with a drink in the evenings or coffee in the mornings and overlook the ocean.

Food... I have been reading a lot on here about the restaurants and so don't know that I need a lot of input here but if anyone knows of a place that we absolutely must hit before we leave feel free to let us know! We don't like the chains btw. My husband loves crab legs but when we went to Destin last year we were disappointed in how expensive the crab legs were on the coast. Where is a good place to go that is not too terribly expensive for a good amount of crab legs?

Thanks so much!!

Dont worry about Danny at ALL ; its far from St. Augustine and heading up the east coast. North Carolina up to Maine needs to watch the updated reports -- not Florida. All i know about St. A. is that its supposed to be a nice place to visit and i havent heard one bad report on it. Ill be visiting it for my first time this winter.

Don't miss the fort - Castillo De San Marcos.

I toured it as a child many years ago and was very impressed - I went back later as an adult as was just as impressed! Well worth a visit.
