Possible move to Daytona Beach
I was previously looking in Ormond by the Sea, but what I read about Daytona Beach sounds interesting.
Where us the "Arts District" scheduled to be?
Is the beachside area fairly safe now around Main?
I love Daytona, spend 3 months there last summer, but I was concerned about safety issues. I am an older women with a walking disability so I am afraid I couldn't even outrun a snail.

I would stay away from beachside Daytona Beach, ESPECIALLY around Main Street. Lots of transients/homeless/bar-rat/druggy people wander that area. Plus, you get the worst of the noise and traffic from the bike events.
You should look into Ormond Beach near the old heart of town, all of the streets of off Beach Street, north and south of Granada Blvd (SR 40) and east of US1.

Daytona has an "arts district"? What is it-- the JoAnn Fabrics store, or the corner where they sell the rugs with tiger heads?

Funny you should say that. I just saw a condo for sale right on the beach in Daytona for $38k one bedroom though. Buying a property on the beach you got more corrosion on the property and you will have to be careful with the hurricanes, but apart from that the beach seems like a great place. If you want any advice just email me and ill send you some homes etc.

Those are condotels, which is old hotels where the rooms have been sold to individuals who live there or rent them out.

We're all confused. "Arts District?" The only thing I can think of is Beach Street, where they have the Art Festival. Not a residential area except for some high dollar condos.
You're better off in Ormond......by far.

I would go with Ormond or Port Orange and stay on the mainland side, rather than the beachside. If you enjoy the beach but live on the mainland, you are still only 10 to 20 minutes away, depending upon how far to the west you live.

Nancy are there any appropriate places for seniors in Ormond to live and feel relatively safe?
