Doctors in Florida?
There have been a lot of posts here about how bad the doctors are in Florida. Is this really true? How about in Northeast Florida? Is it hard to finda doctor that will take new patients? How about urologists? I ask because my daughter will need to be under a urologists care when we move, because she has just had surgery to correct a urinary reflux problem.

There are decent doctors down there
You need to do your homework though. Some of the doctors are quacks. Others are actually ok. The ones that are ok are the one's that moved down from the big cities like NY, Philly, Chicago. It seems though that there are doctors on every corner down there. Just do your homework and you should be able to find somebody that will be to your liking.

Northeast Florida has some of the best hospitals in the state, including the Mayo Clinic, Shands at the University of Florida and Baptist Medical Center. If your daughter requires pediatric care, Baptist is affiliated with Wolfson Children's Hospital, Shands has a fantastic pediatric division, and Nemours Clinic has a location there as well.

O.k. Thank you so much! I was pretty worried that we would not find a good urologist or ped. down there!

Here is a great site for checking the credentials of any doctor you consider in Florida
http://ww2.doh.state.fl.us/irm00praes/praslist.asp
You will learn about their licensing, education, specialty certification and any disciplinary action that has been filed against the physician, including liability claims.

Yes i'd stay with one of the major facilities like Shands or something rather than an independant doctor. My daughter is a regular at Shands in Gainesville for all her medical problems and has seen many specialists there. It's just hard to get an appointment sometime but once your in and keep your regular scheduled visits, you'll be ok.
