Anybody out there Pensacola/Gulf Breeze locals?
I am thinking about relocating to the panhandle region of FL. I want to live in Gulf Breeze, but would like to hear from someone who has or is living there now. Anybody?

A Lady by the name of 'BeachMouse' on CityData Forums can fill you in on Gulf Breeze. , but i live not too far from there and have passed thru it numerous times. Its a very small and quaint town right on the coaust next to Pensacola ; theres a long bridge that connects the two . Route 98 is the major 4 lane highway that runs thru Gulf Breeze and during Tourist Season which is June thru August , it sees alot of traffic passing thru. I almost bought a house in Gulf Breeze but at the last moment decided Id rather be further inland in the woods to avoid the brunt of hurricanes ..however... theres lots of people there that just take storms in stride . If you go on www.youtube.com and do a search under 'Hurricane Ivan' and 'Hurricane Opal' , youll be able to see what a typical hurricane looks like as it came on shore around Gulf Breeze and the resulting damage. It will give you good insight. Simular coastal towns in the Panhandle that might be to your liking are : small Navarre (just down the road), Mary Ester, Fort Walton Beach, and popular Destin. I moved to the Panhandle not too long ago from up north, and love it down here. Many things to do and explore and the people are very nice and most are highly considerate.

I'm more of a Ft. Walton Beach area person. Can tell you that Gulf Breeze is a nice middle class-UMC suburb of Pensacola and that the schools are good, but wouldn't have a clue about anything more detailed than that.
If you're wanting south county Santa Rosa schools, that's where I'd end up because you get a sense that there's a real town there instead of endless unconnected suburban sprawl like you get out towards Navarre and Midway.

I guess the word is getting around the Universe that its a good time to buy up Foreclosures in Gulf Breeze ; I just hope they will get their alien currency changed over to U.S. dollars so they can pay the Tax Man like the rest of us (and pay for a new Air Port so they can safely land their Crafts) ...lol....

The Air Force (and to some degree the Navy) do a lot of weapons testing in the Panhandle, and I've seen drones that look like they could have been alien spacecraft if you didn't know the test wing was there.

This morning at 7:30 a.m. ish, my entire house shook from a 'boom' noise i heard coming from outdoors . I suspect one of their planes broke the sound barrier during tests.

My famliy and I live in Gulf Breeze. We moved here from Marietta, GA (20 miles north of Atlanta) about a year ago. We love it down here, schools are great, people are friendly, and if you like watersports this is the place for you. It's not touristy like PCB or Destin.... it's got an "old school" charm to it (kind of like it never left the 80's) - but that's one of the reasons we like it here.
