Default Small Town Florida

I may have a chance to move to Florida, because my job is now digital and I can work from home.

What is a cool SMALL place to live?

I was born in Orlando in the 50's, so I know what it's like, but I'm so disgusted by what Orlando has become, I want small.

Good water, decent land prices, etc.

Homosassa? Lake George? Silver Spring?

I'd really appreciate your suggestions!

Well, how "small" do you want? And what is your idea of "cool?"

Definitely Fernandina Beach (just north of JAX) - I love it there! Beautiful marsh landscape and great downtown. Would move there if I ever had to leave St. Pete.

McAlpin. Now that's small! Rural with decent prices. If you need to shop you can be in Gainesville, Fl. or Valdosta Ga. (less expensive gas in Ga.!!) in about an hour. Tallahassee and Jacksonville are each about 90 minutes away.Go enjoy a day of great shopping and retreat to your personal country paradise!
We also have the Suwannee River Music Park about 30 minutes away that draws big names in the music industry. Canoe the Suwannee river! Tube down the Ichetucknee.....a pure delight on those hot summer days. It's about 35 minutes away.

Wild Adventures Theme Park is about an hour away and a season ticket is around $70.00!!
We're surrounded by beautiful crystal clear springs. Scuba diving is a favorite past time and our springs draw lots of enthusiasts.
The locals are friendly and wave to everyone! That took Hubby a long time to get used to. hehe
The neighbors are ready and willing to help if needed, but will respect your right to privacy if you prefer. They're just helpful and warm without being intrusive or nosy.
Horseback riders are a common sight on our rural roads.

I love it here!

There are some nice small towns between Orlando and Gainesville and also around Daytona Beach and St. Augustine if you need the beach.
