Utilities in Daytona Beach area
Can anyone please tell me what to expect regarding monthly cost of electric, cable, etc in the Daytona Beach area since we're moving from out of state? We are looking at renting a 2 bedroom apt/house.
We're coming from Arizona, paying $350/mo electric, and $75/mo water...and Cox cable/internet runs about $175/mo. Please tell me Florida is better!!!
Many thanks!

brighthouse cable (time warner) serves most of the area. 72 channels is like 55 per month, road runner lite internet is 30 dollars...they always have a special...6 months at 20 dollars, then 6 months at 25 dollars. ATT is now offering dsl without having to buy local phone service from them...you just plug your modem into the wall...it starts at 20 a month but requires a 12 month deal. I would go with brighthouse casue they have great package deals when you buy tv and internet. They have been advertising 72 channels/internet/local phone for 99 a month.
electric seems priced fairly...my one bedroom apt averages about 65 dollars and 10 of that is taxes. My bill in april and may was a whopping 45 dollars...that is not a misprint. My bill for august when i ran my ac all day/night was 70 dollars. In feb it hit 110 dollars cause the heater uses 3 times the energy that ac does. My unit has brand new energy efficent appliances/water heater/AC etc.
I answered your earlier post...i would look at "the overlook at daytona" apts...it is a totally rennovated luxury complex 4 blocks from the beach. It is on a street with many shops, nightclubs, restaurants, walgreens, seven eleven, wachovia bank etc...
The only negatives about it is that some of the units are right on seabreeze blvd and the traffic is noisy...during bike week, you will hear non-stop harley motorcycles for 10 days straight. They have units that do not face the street which are very quiet. The units overlooking the intercostal also hear a "beeping" sound each time the garage gate opens but it is not that often.
Lemmie know if you have any questions about the place.

Electricity for my 2 bedroom house runs about $120 in the summer when the a/c is blasting. Water, trash, etc. runs about $65/mo. Bright House high speed internet, cable tv, and home phone runs $160/mo.

We have a four bedroom house with a pool, for which the pump runs about 12 hours in the summer and 8 in the winter. Our electric bill runs around $220 or so in the summer, and a little higher in the winter, if we have used our heat at least a few times (we don't use heat in our home unless the temps are below about 45). A 2 bedroom apartment would obviously be a lot less than that. For water we pay about $100 give or take (five people) and for cable/internet, $99 a month.
