26/M Looking to relocate
Hey there, this may be a long post so please bear with me.
I'm currently living in Massachusetts (or Taxachusetts as we call it). The winters up here bug me to no end and Massachusetts government is more screwed up than Congress.
I'm posting in the FL forums because it seems like it seems like winter-haters like myself end up coming down here to escape it. I know that there are snowbirds that come to FL for the winter and go back to their home states for the summer. I'm looking to permanently escape winter-time and hopefully find a nice area to live in.
About me:
I'm 26, and I live in Worcester County, MA (if you're familiar with it). My interests include playing pool, social networking, and going to the beach occasionally.
I have a steady job that would let me relocate to FL when i decide to make the move. I don't need luxurious living; I would probably have to find an apartment when I first get into the area with the potential to save up for a house once I feel that FL is the right place for me.
I'm a year out of college, so the party/frat/college scene is beyond me. I do like nightlife (clubs, bars, celebrations) and I enjoy meeting people. My major out of college was Communications with a concentration in Media Production. I'm an aspiring video editor, possibly looking for an entry-level job in media.
I'm not sure if I've inundated you all with information and I know this sounds like a single's ad, but I'm just trying to give you as much information as I can.
Any/all help would be appreciative.

I'm not sure what you are asking. There seems to be a lot of information, but no real question.
Are you looking for recommendations on where to settle?
Will your job let you live anywhere in Florida, or would you be transferring to a specific location?
Do you like rock 'n roll or dance/house/rap music? If you like rock music, then Orlando has the hot scene--definitley the most rock bars in any area of the State. (They've also got a hot hip-hop/house scene.)
Orlando also has a fledgling film industry.

I'm looking to relocate. Since you mention Orlando and its rock bars, nightlife and film industry, maybe that would be a good spot to look into.
I am looking for a recommendation. If anything, what can you tell me about Orlando? I know my job has two places in Orlando.

I could type out 15 pages about Orlando--most of which has already been written on C-D, and still not answer questions you've got. It would be a better option for you to ask specific questions and then we can all try to answer them for you.

I would suggest any of the major cities-Tampa, Orlando, Jax, Miami. Orlando is a few hours from the beach so factor that in.
What is your housing budget?

I would say any part of Florida from Central Florida on down....would meet the criteria and interests you have shared . If you want the Beach to be a very short drive, then perhaps Ft. Meyers area , Tampa, or Ft. Lauderdale would be possibilities . Get ready to be zing-ed when you go to get your FLorida Car License Plate and Title Transfer to a Florida Title ; I just paid $412 ... but hopefully you can more than make it up with lower taxes, cost of living, etc...compared to Taxa-cusettes ! (cute name).

Have you looked into Wilmington, NC? Third largest film business in the country behind LA, NY. MA to FL is going to be a real shock, Wilmington is mild, seven minutes to the beach, university is there. I realize this is a FL thread so don't hate on me, just wanted to give the guy another option.

Not hating, I think it's good to see other options!
