Heat what is that? I think we turned on the heat twice last winter when at 6 AM it was in the lower 40s, but by Noon it was back in the 70s. You don't need heat with that unless you are an iguana.

What you described seems like a local problem and certainly not an issue in my area.
I have no problems opening up the windows and french doors.
Pollution is not an issue nor is humidity during the winter.

I spent a few years in Daytona. Didn't need the A/C at all for at least 7 months. Actually used the heat quite often from late Nov to mid Feb. In South Florida in recent years seems like the A/C ran a good 10 months. Last winter was different from most of this decade...incredible actually went well over 4 months without it so hope for some global cooling again...lol. Agree with Tanaples that in SoFla you almost never need the heat...or even a sweater<ng>

When we had a 7th floor condo on Tampa Bay we rarely used a/c at all.
Always got a nice breeze.
A little further north now and I would say it is generally off for 5 months of the year from mid October to mid March.

When we lived in our condo in Naples, we NEVER shut off the A/C, even in FEBRUARY. Breeze? WHAT breeze? Even now living closer to the beach in a single family house on a golf course, there STILL is no breeze or cool until January or February, for TOPS a MONTH. before all the heat and humidity start all over again.

Overnight low here this weekend will be in the 40-41F range. Nothing running right now- just open up the windows in the afternoon and close them when it starts getting chilly. If you have to run your AC in January in the Panhandle on a regular basis, your problem is that you bought a poorly insulated home, not the climate outside.
