Default Would like info. on health care jobs Ormond Beach area

Considering relocating to either Port Orange, Ormond Beach or New Smyrna Beach area after son grads from HS 6/2010. Other son will be 20.
Husband will transfer job with Home Depot. Curious about jobs in health care and any ideas of appx. pay for CNA"s. We're not sure what the best area with teenagers would be. Also, any good tech and or community colleges in those areas. Any info or web sites would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I can help you a little with the colleges. We have some really good ones. There is Daytona State College, Bethune Cookman University, Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and the University of Central FL, all located in the Daytona area, though the Daytona Campus of UCF (main campus is in Orlando, an hour away) doesn't offer all majors, just some of the more common ones. You can do a Google search on any one of those colleges and get lots of info. I went to DSC myself and our older son is a student there and likes the school.

As far as income here, keep in mind that we are a very touristy area, so pay is not that great here. Our taxes are low though and so is our cost of living, in general.

Good luck gathering more info.

Nancy

Here are links to the hospitals in the area and there are many home care agencies and nursing homes, as well:
Facility Search | Adventist Health System
Halifax Health

This is the state employment website: (This should give you an idea of the pay scale.)
Agency for Workforce Innovation

In addition to Biomom's list, there are some technical colleges, I can only think of these:
WyoTech Daytona - What You Should Know
Florida Associate Degree Programs - Bachelor's Degrees | Keiser University

and a couple of excellent private universities:
Stetson University
Flagler College

Don't have any kids, so I can't help you with that, but check property taxes before you buy. Some areas of Volusia County are pretty high. Good luck!
