Affordable housing (we're trying for under $250,000)
Family friendly
Environmentally friendly
Mild weather
Hills... I don't like completely flat areas
Liberal attitude
A large body of water nearby, the ocean, a river, lakes, anything really.
Lots of green space and parks

-Walkability-Not really in the sense you describe. Tallahassee is more a suburban town. Even downtown doesn't have that much to offer. They are trying to add a "walkable" area along Gaines St, but that's at least a few years off.
-Affordable housing under 250k-Definitely
-Family friendly-Definitely
-Environmentally friendly-Not sure if they have city-wide recycling pick up with your trash, but if they do that'd be the extent of it.
-Mild weather-I'd say so. Gets to be chilly during the winter months (40s-50s), but HOT in the summer.
-Hills-It is hilly, but you won't be able to tell in the sense of "standing somewhere and looking out over a plain of hills." Can really only tell when driving.
-Liberal attitude-This is a real sticking point with me on these forums. People say, "Leon County consistently votes Democrat, so it's liberal." I mean as long as we're generalizing, a lot of that comes from the fact that Tallahassee is 33% black, a group that is staunchly Democrat as a whole but is not what I would call "liberal" in the sense that Portland or San Francisco is. Yes FSU/FAMU are here and that adds to it too, but being a recent grad of FSU I'd say you'd actually have to go looking for liberalness to find it. Tallahassee is a pretty standard Southern town if anything, so I'd say you're more likely to find Bible-thumpers than people heading to a peace rally.
-Large body of water-Lake Jackson has about dried up, and even though Tallahassee is only about 25 miles inland the nearest actual beach is about 1 1/2 hours away. Wakulla Springs isn't far though and nice swimming hole.
-Lots of green space-A few decent parks in the city. I mean this place only has about 150-175,000 people, so you're not going to find them all over the place.
Overall, Tallahassee is a pretty decent place to raise a family, but I'm not sure it has everything you're looking for.
