Default Florida is Smoking Today!

When I drove to work from downtown Sarasota out to Longboat Key, I noticed a haze over the bridge....well, we're getting smoke like crazy from GA!

It smells like a forest fire here and we're eight hours by car from Atlanta....wow!

Our sky is gold.

Anyone else?

There are fires all over the state. Over 20,000 acres are currently burning, just in Florida.

It is smoky, stinky and just plain ugly outside with all the ash in the air. My cars look like they have a dusting of snow on them!

The news said the wind/weather system is pushing it all on us from GA as well as FL fires.

Creepy!

There are also fires in northern Lake County...and I've read there are fires in Duval, Nassau, and Clay counties. Some state highways are closed in northern Lake, Seminole ... and maybe other counties. But according to our news reports, the smoke is coming from Georgia! Tomorrow the winds are supposed to be out of the east, so it should clear the air for us.

Oh, a Health Dept. spokesman said stay indoors with a/c on if you have breathing problems and if you have to get out into your car, use the ac/ on MAX which recirculates rather than bringing in outside air on the normal setting.

Default Finally clearing up in Jax...hope it stays that way

I wasn't aware of any fires in Duval/Jax, but we've had smoke drifting from Georgia for 2 weeks now. Some of the earliest days we had heavy smoke, but it's been a bit clearer lately...I can finally work in the yard again.
