I'm happy so many do enjoy it. I however don't.

It's not about "bashing" but it's just not for me, and it's not for many others as well. Nothing wrong with that.

I've lived in several other states and so far the only one I don't care for is Florida. Nothing against any of those who do love it, but for me I can't wait until we can move.

My wife and I are retired and we retired well before the age of 55. We love Florida and we have the best of both worlds. We have a very good retirement and and we consider Florida our dream. We live in a fantastic state.

I never have had an overwhelming desire to move to Florida, but I knew my husband did. My parents have lived here for over 20 years and we finally moved here last year. I LOVE it! More than I ever expected. I sometimes wonder if those who hate it live in Southern Florida, because up here in Flagler Country, the weather is quite tolerable, the people unbelievably friendly, the parks, reserves and national parks just amazing, diversity, good schools, a ton of activities if you seek them out, reasonably-priced housing. Just yesterday we went with the cub scouts to Fort Matanzas. So full of history. The little boat ride to the fort, the nature walk there and at a neighboring park were wonderful and it was all free. We don't have all the amenities of a big city, but it's a great mix of people, lots to do in a beautiful, peaceful setting. I love it!

I voted "yes". Florida is not perfect, and I sometimes wonder what it would be like elsewhere, like NYC, Chicago, or Portland. However, I would have to have a good reason to leave.

I often visit the MD area, and I'm usually glad to come back to FL.

I have my good points and bad points. I do like many things about FL. I can't blame Florida for the economy. My biggest dislike is the heat, I am just tired of it. It gets old by October and it is still 90... Too many things were overbuilt here, now we are stuck with empty, half built, or abandoned homes and lots, buildings, etc. Snowbirds although they help Florida with $$$, are a royal pain, not all of them, but a lot of them. I think some of us on here know why.

So,I am interested in polling Floridians about their approval of Florida...

"Approval " means that

u like the state,
u don't desire to relocate to another state,
u recommend it to others for relocation,
u would not leave the state for a same - paying job as yours in FL...

This poll is only for FL residents, natives or transplants..

Let's see if the state makes it to 90%...
Your criteria for acceptance is flawed. Florida natives and long term residents for the most part won't be encouraging more people to move here. It is getting too crowded with too much concrete and houses being built in wetlands destroying the natural habitat.
The other 2 criterias I could definitely say a big YES!

U are right about newcomers,no one wants more concentration...
But the price of land is already prohibitive, so only high earners can be newcomers...

harrymiafl since you asked,

The weather usually is too much. Too hot, too humid, too often. I've found I was able to do more outside activities in other areas even those that had heavy snow.

They drive so fast, and road rage.

There is a lack of public transportation that is easily accessed, and convenient.

I've found many are rude. This one is a big pet peeve of mine.

Oddly enough the beaches here are too built up (too many condos, hotels, and shops) could be that I'm spoiled due to other beaches that I have experienced.

The cookie cutter houses aren't really my thing.

It's very flat.

The bugs.

Those are a few things. Truth is it's not just one thing. There are a large number of things and many little things that I can't even put my finger on. We live in south Florida and nothing about it is friendly, progressive, and no matter what it just doesn't feel like home.

It's just not my cup of tea. I am so very happy for those who do love it, but I really can't wait until we can move.
