Do a search on Monster.com, Indeed.com or Hotjobs.com. It doesn't paint a pretty picture, at least not compared to New England. There are more engineering jobs in Boston Ma than all of Florida.

I'd have to say Pensacola, FL has one of the worst, if not the worst job market in the state of Florida. I've lived here my entire life and while there are some jobs, most don't pay a livable wage for this area. I've applied for hundreds of jobs out of my field (as there are no jobs here in my field) and don't get a single phone call. However, just for kicks, I applied for 6, yes SIX jobs in Columbus Ohio and all 6 of them called me for interviews and even have a couple of job offers.

Lovely huh?

Overall the "best" of a sad lot are probably Jacksonville and Ft. Lauderdale and the worst are probably Fort Myers, Palm Coast area and Port Saint Lucie.
