tell me everything you know about CITRUS COUNTY FL
I am interested in moving to Citrus County,if anybody is from there,I would like some suggestions about jobs, and raising my little son, schools, shopping, and where is the best area to be. Help please! I know it's some how rural, but it can't be worse than south Florida!!

Citrus County
Inverness is nice and changing for the better.
Downtown is changing to look much nicer.
The people are more friendly
you can rent condos by the month for about $900 if you want to check out the area, otherwise there is a Best Western on RT486
Hernando has alot of new homes and development, growing like crazy
Beverly Hills is rigt next door, locals are very rude there!!!
Prices for homes are going down, alot of rentals
Ifsomone hasn't been there in a few years you would be suprised at all the new stores.
The locals hate NYer's though so if your from there don't let anyone know.

Insurance is very affordable and sinkholes (80%) happen south of Citrus and North and east of Tampa.

I have a place in Hernando, although I don't live there much, I love it. It's quite and safe. I've never had my kids in Citrus Schools but I've never heard anything bad about the schools. They just spent a ton of money on road projects surrounding Hernando Elementery, it looks nice.
Jobs are hard to come by, a lot of people go to Ocala for work. It's a great place right now, I've always said Inverness is just perfect, not to big but not to small.

Throwing in my 2 cents worth here - I also would love to relocate to Citrus County. I spent some time on the gulf coast of Florida last year to narrow down my choices, and I really fell in love with Inverness. Don't get me wrong; I love the beachy areas a little further south on the coast, but Inverness had that small town feel. Not as touristy, and the downtown area made it feel more like a town as opposed to driving through a strip mall. The lakes are beautiful, and I really like the rails to trails for biking and hiking.
I had to put my relocation plans on hold for now. Houses aren't selling anywhere, and I need to sell mine before I buy there. Also, after lots of discussions with my SO, we decided it makes more sense for him to put in the rest of his work years at his current job rather than try to find something in Florida. I just retired, but he has another 7 years to go. I guess I can survive 7 more winters - especially since now that I'm retired I don't have to go out if I don't want to. We'll see what happens.
