I know someone who did it but backwards from Broward to work in Naples, however I don't think they lasted more than 8 months or so doing it.For me to even consider it it would have to be for a very good job with the job preferably located in Western Broward near the I-75 ,595 interchange so at least the drive over will at least be near an hour and not getting closer to two.

Are you kidding? Combined with local driving it would be 3 1/2 hours of driving or more a day. Tolls, gas, ware and tear on the car not to mention the driver, no one in their right mind would it. I would say no one does it unless they are desperate and they would not do it for long give any choice.

I knew someone that did this, he lived in Naples and worked in Miami Beach. He worked the night shift, had a great job, great money I assume, and when I asked why he didn't live in Miami and why he commutes. He said he didn't want his family to live in South Florida, and that the commute isn't that bad 2 hrs I think he said, since he didn't go to work during rush hours. I think he did it for year or two.

That is nonsensical craziness. I wouldn't even recommend most areas of Broward County, LET ALONE SW FLORIDA, to a person working in Miami who has a family. There are so many nice and safe areas in Miami-Dade that don't require a commute that will cause so much wear-and-tear on your car, patience, and social life.
OP: I implore you not to do it. If you are thinking that South Florida is bad/evil/morally repugnant/unsafe/etc., be assured that most of it is NOT those things, and that if you want to "play it really safe," you can just live in Weston, the king of the perfect-Mayberry-with-palm-trees-planned-communities.

No way it can be done in 2 hours. It is over 260 miles round trip and some of that will be city driving. It is a least 5 hours a day of driving. 25 hours a week, equal to more then half of his work week unpaid. Not to mention the expense. You would have to be insane, and if you weren't that trip every day would do it to you. I work from home. It takes me 30 seconds to walk across the yard to my office. There is no amount of money that would make me spend a 100 hours a month just commuting. Those are unpaid hours.
As far as I am concerned, the moment I get up in the morning till I am home and my time is my own again, that time all is committed to work. People waste a lot of their lives committing time to their jobs that they don't even get paid for. A lot of people need a real reality check as to what they actually get paid for a weeks work.
