killaloe is on a distinguished road
I have had Verizon DSL and have been very unhappy with the quality. From 9am to 5pm the connection would constantly drop, it must have been related to the volume of users.

On the other hand I have been very happy with Cable (Comcast), it rarely drops. But it is more expensive.

DSL is most definitely a shared connection. It's speed is much less than broadband cable.

If Comcast is available, I've been really happy with their service (not their prices, but the broadband quality). I bundle it with Comcast cable tv service, so a little discount there. I fought it for a long time because I did not want to spend the money, but I'm hooked on broadband now.

Comcast cable.

The lack of cable internet is one of the main reasons we did not buy a house in western north carolina.

Where are you talking about? We have a house in Asheville, and have Charter high-speed cable. On the NC forums, a while back they were discussing other high-speed options in other areas of WNC.

Roadrunner with brighthouse. I download voice files all day long for my work and it's super fast. Never dealt with any other provider so not sure which is better.

My Dad just got Brighthouse internet over in Melbourne. First time on the internet (he's 71) and he loves it. He has the phone service through them, too, and that is good. Little bit of confusion during installation, but those things happen, and they made it right.
