I agree...and it goes back to my original statement.....rude people are everywhere....My uncle has a house in the Highlands NC and no not everyone is nice there either...we go to restaurants here people are very nice, I go to publix they are very nice, we havent had 1 bad experience other than someone not holding a door as we walked in, and yes that happened where we lived before too....I know when the snowbirds come its a different ball game but I grew up with rude people and well I just dont pay much attention I guess...

It's strange, huh? How perceptions and experiences can vary so greatly?
It's also strange how SOME people seem to ALWAYS attract rudeness and road rage, almost on a daily basis, while other complain of none?
But yet, those who do attract rudeness and range always find a way to blame it on "everyone else."

I have actually never found rudeness wherever I have lived, either in Naples now, Long Island, or NYC.
Fascinating since I am considered a "miserable" person who cannot be happy anywhere.

I'm not going to make an excuse, I bet there are rude people in Highlands (very rich area) but almost all the folks that can afford to live there are from FL via NY. I'm just sayin.

I'm a very good and polite driver. Maybe the 3 folks that are defending S FL and wont acknowledge the problem with rude people and driving are doing so because they are all from NY and maybe it is something you all are used to? Because I dont see anyone else doing so except the two or three - and those folks are all from NY, and maybe now feel the need to defend S FL because it's the 6th borough?
The interesting thing is, is that when I see road rage and idiotic/rude behavior, most of the time it isnt directed at me, I'm just reporting what I had seen... also, isnt it interesting that these incidents always happen in FL and not during my years in NC? You think I attract rude behavior and road rage and I say your full of BS. Another sweeping the issue under the rug - it's not FL - ot cant be - it's gotta be Trusses. HA! Not likely buddy. I got relatives that have lived in FL for yrs - before I was born - and they see the crap I see too. And I also did a poll on who has the friendlier residents - NC or FL? And NC won by a large margin, about 70% of the votes. So it's not like I am making stuff up. Trust me, I like parts of FL, I was born and raised here - I have tried to talk myself into staying here - but I cant deny what I see. And I'm not trying to pick a fight - I know there are good people from all over - I just am convinced that FL has a lot of bad apples. I'm sure the people on this forum who dont agree with me are good people, and people I could be friends with. If you're a good person, I dont care where you're from or what you look like.
So let me ask you TrimT7, all biases aside. How do you explain all the incidents that I see and my wife and family sees, but in my 13 yrs in NC, we never had to deal with it? I know per capita, stats, population, blah blah blah... but couldnt you just once admit that driving in FL is a pain in the a$$ and there are waaaay too many a$$es on the roads compared to most places???????? For once, can you admit that? Or is it the ol' sweep the problem under the rug, 'it must be you' thing?

The great drivers here are the only thing "rude" I ever see around here. Have not talked to many rude people just dealt with the really crappy drivers here.

There are a lot of lowlifes, and sorry folks many are born here. Like the Cummings clan.
You don't see "white trash" like this in such abundance as you do in other states.

White trash, natives are the ones committing these crimes? There were two arrests yesterday in Central FL - sex offenders - one from Mass and one from NY.
Police arrest "level three" sex offender hiding in bedroom in Port Orange, Florida -- OrlandoSentinel.com
Orange City man accused of molesting 11-year-old girl -- OrlandoSentinel.com
Again, my point about criminals from other states flocking to FL for whatever reason - a place to hide I guess.
But you dont seem to address these people and these crimes unless they are presumed to be FL natives. So you bring up the Anthony's and the Cummings (by the way are from Ohio and Michigan) and continue to call them FL white trash, yet it is pretty darn obvious that most crime in FL is not comitted by native Floridians. You bring up one or two cases and they werent even born in FL!

In all fairness Trusses, there is a boatload of OLD Atlanta money living there too - more than there are halfback NY'ers.

I never found the people of Highlands to be rude at all - I was just saying that I wasnt suprised if there were some living there - after another poster said the people in the Highlands were rude. I never initiated the Highlands area and the "rude people" comment.
I posted a poll on the city vs city forum, comparing the friendliness of NC residents to FL residents, and I estimated that it would be 8 out of 10 saying NC would win... so far it's 70/30 in favor of NC, and the last comment left by a poster from FL was... "The first thing I notice when I visit NC is how much more nicer the people are than Florida. My vote is for NC. Florida is satuated with NY transplants and such also, not that that is bad, just saying."
