A bridge that once was a part of Interstate 10 in North Florida is being transformed into a massive underwater reef. Construction crews are placing the rubble from the span about 15-miles offshore from Pensacola. Hurricane Ivan destroyed much of the bridge in 2004.
About 88,000 tons of rubble is being deposited as part of the more than $200 million contract for a new I-10 bridge. The bridge should be ready by the end of the year.
At least we are using the rubble for a good cause....
