Have you ever been to Florida......do you want the East Coast or the West Coast......with the money you are looking to spend you could buy on either side...the east coast seems to be over loaded with New Yorkers and a little quicker paced than the west coast......I myself have been looking into a Florida move for the last several years and I am now concentrating in the Sarasota area......but what is good for me...may DUCK for you...

OP - Florida isn't all the same. North Florida is very different from Southeast Florida. And Southwest Florida is very different from the Panhandle, etc. It sounds like you are not very familiar with Florida yet. I would suggest taking a trip down and driving around the state. This way you can narrow down your search a little more.

Here are a few questions that will better help us to give you a better answer. Are you looking to be near the ocean or inland? Do you want a small town, or a large metropolitan city? Do you want year round 80+ temps and humidity or do you want some change in the temps? Are there any things you want close by?

There should be a "Sticky" on "Moving to Florida" like in
a few other forums. What DoggieBus wrote would be the first item.

Florida can vary greatly coast to coast,
region to region and even within 30 mile radius'.
It is HUGE geographically. If you pick the wrong
place you will be miserable and writing "I hate FL"
stuff within a month
If you pick the right place, two years......tee hee

And Yes, there are no jobs.

Your right i havent been to florida yet i would love to take a trip but am very busy at the moment and i dont mind ocean or inland. i would like to be close to a large downtown area but not in downtown. As far as the weather just something pleasant is nice. Being near a airport would be nice but most of all i want a safe location with low crime.

"Large" downtowns in Florida with airport access are as follows (in no particular order):

1) Fort Lauderdale
2) Miami
3) Tampa
4) Jacksonville
5) Orlando

Then there's good size downtowns, like West Palm Beach, Tallahassee, Fort Myers, Sarasota. Maybe something like St. Petersburg or Clearwater would be good?

You might want to look into Sarasota or Venice. Sarasota has an airport and Tampa Airport is close by. What kind of things do you like to do? boating, golfing, beaches, fishing, etc. It's generally more tropical south of the Tampa area. Did you want it cooler or more of a tropical environment? It's hard to suggest anything really specific without more information.

The higher up you go in Florida......the better the chance that you will have at least 3 seasons...with summer being the longest......try St Augustine/Jacksonville/The Panhandle Area......just google maps for Florida and start at the top and work down...
