Your personal coverage is for contents, not structure. You end up paying for the 'structure" coverage via your monthly association fees. Be leery if those fees are too low, since it means they're underfunding the reserves and may be prone to hitting residents with frequent "special assessments" to cover operating expenses. Read the deed restrictions carefully before buying - many go so far as to limit the type pet you can own (or totally forbid one), what you can hang on your patio, and even how you park your car in your parking space.

AND make sure that the "by-laws" do not prohibit C-D members gatherings and party hats!
