I think parks71 meant from hot (FL) to cold (CO, UT, TN)... talking about temperatures... just my guess...

Well buddy the truth is the truth I have been here on and off for 35 years , the state is going downhill charging 600k for a house thats now worth 300k is fraud .

The old people here make the cost of living go through the roof , for the 1st time in 30 years more people are moving out then in thats a fact .

I do SEO in Google for a living I have facts and people should be warned instead of taken , we have the banks and IRS for that dont we .

We have all been sheep here told eat here NOW and it turns out to be bad food and service as people come here drink alot and then get fed junk and are just happy to sober up a bit before driving.

Trust me Vegas has nothing on Florida when it comes to Escorts for hire , drunk little bimbos running around Miami Escorts on the Eros Guide to Female Escorts and Miami Escort services 100's listed just here trust me Tiger did not have to leave home .

Nobody forced anybody to purchase a home at any price. If you bought too high, don't blame Florida for your poor judgment.

Cost of living is DOWN year over year for the past few years since the height of the bubble. THAT is a fact. Most people pay less taxes, less home insurance, cheaper rent and home prices than 4 - 5 years ago.

As for "people moving out" maybe you should take some of those internet skills and do some real research as to WHY there might be negative population flow when the huge run up in population during the boom were people chasing real estate and construction jobs.

It shouldn't take you more than an hour to figure it out. It will have nothing to do with "old people," and if people were OK with the cost of living years ago, they shouldn't suddenly have a problem now. Sometimes i feel like the posters on here are visitors from 2005 - 2006.

Amen, it had everything to do with a phoney housing juiced economy.. Folks should be thankful there are many 'old' people with disposable income not tied to the local economy left down here..

I agree, nobody made them pay that price for thier house however, I do not agree that the cost of living has went down in the past 5 years atleast in jacksonville.

Our utilities or power increased atleast 25%, housing insurance has went up in the past 5 years to the point some wont even insure in florida. Our registration taxes have doubled and our property taxes have just went up again as well. Gas prices continue to rise (nationwise I understand but we pay high taxes for fuel here in florida) so I dont see where you say the cost of living has went down.

Rent I'll agree with you since the housing market is flooded but again, thats everywhere. 5 years ago I bought a rental property with 1400 sq in a nice area for 90,000 then sold it a year or so later for 158,000. God knows where it went from there but I checked not long ago and the area was selling in the 140s.

I am not saying your wrong, but please tell me how you come to this conclusion.

Glad you like the area!

East TN isn't considered cold, though. That's why a bunch of halfbacks (including me) live here!

In my opinion, east TN can feel colder than Colorado. Colorado is very dry and the sun is out all the time. It can be 35 degrees and you may be fine in a tee shirt.

TN is very humid and wet cold. It also tends to be very cloudy. Wet + cold = super cold feeling.

This is just my opinion but I know many others feel the same way.
