Traffic -- heavy traffic, congestion in Naples and Marco
Young People --- Definitely not Marco Island . . . some newer communities in Naples. In our community of 80 single family homes where we used to live there was one single person who owned under 40, the rest of the singles were widows and widowers well over 60.
Illegal Immigrants --- Grocery stores like Publix, stores like Target, Walmart, Beals, etc. have a majority of non-english speaking employees who do not understand what you are saying, nor can they answer questions.
I hate to be negative, but if you can afford a place like Naples, than research another area where there is less congestion, and more for a young person to do . . . if traffic is a concern, you need to visit there and you will see the congestion we are talking about.

[quote=fashionablecowboy;741119]Could someone please tell me which would be better? -Naples or Marco Island? I can afford either-I know it's an expensive area. I am a young individual who wants to be near families, not retired people, and who does not need to be within ten minutes of bars/major shopping. MUST be slow-paced. 1. Is Naples slow and relaxed?! I heard traffic is getting awful in the winters! How crammed and stressful is driving?
Traffic is bad (worse in winter months)
2. Where are people the most friendly and warm (small community-type feel)? North Naples? South Naples? Marco Island?
I would say Sanibel/Captiva, It is as exclusive as Marco but has more young people. The toll is six dollars to cross now(used to be three). Residents of the island get a deal. You would be close to Fort Myers Beach which has the night life.
3. How is the illegal immigration problem in Naples?
Florida has a problem with illegal immigrants, wide-spread, and growing.

My parents have a home in Naples, actually Bay Colony, and it's very, very, nice, infact it's probably even too rich for my husband and I and it's my families home! I have friends who actually work on Marco Island in the hospitality field, and this is really for the 65+ year olds, in all honesty!
As for parts of Naples, I can tell you that the apartments located directly off of Airport Road are quite nice, (Arbour Walk-Fountain View), there are also some pretty nice apartments on the corner of Pineridge Rd and Airport Road that are very nice as well. You want to avoid the Golden Gate area, not so nice and this is where most of the illegals live. Naples Park is fine, it's near Vanderbilt Beach and you can occasionally find a nice, cheap rental in Old Naples, which is by Fifth Ave.
Other than that, let me know if you need any more info. I go to Naples every year and stay w/ my family and we love it and in my opinion I wouldn't live anywhere else in the state of Florida. Upon marrying my husband, he and I felt differently about the coast vs. gulf side, he always thought that West Palm Beach was the best and richest in Florida until he visited Naples with me. The Ritz Carlton at Vanderbilt Beach in Naples has been voted the Best Ritz in the world, it's quite nice. There is a great club inside the Registry Resort as well, and anyplace on Fifth is alot of fun.
