I have the opportunity to live in Fl for the summer. I will be doing travel therapy (I am a speech therapist) where the company will provide housing for me to come work in Fl for 12 weeks. I am bringing a husband and three children. This was my solution to my inability to afford a regular vacation (due to varying medical issues that kept cropping up over the past few years resulting in no paid time off and high medical bills). We are very excited to "get away" for a few months. It is just hard to make a decision about where to go with so many options. Our choices are: Jacksonville, Orlando, Daytona, Ft. Lauderdale, Ft. Meyers, Naples, Sarasota. I also keep hearing how great Pensacola and Destin are, but am not sure if there are positions there. I also have been led to believe that Ft. Lauderdale might not be a great option for us due to higher cost of living (true/not true?). Our main goal for the summer is just to "get away" and be a family again. Of course we want to try and go to Disney, Universal and Busch Gardens at least once, but the rest of the time will be spent on the beach or at the pool. Does anyone have any suggestions or tips to offer?

Your kids might really like Orlando because of all the theme parks however you will probably have to pay the out of state rate unless you change your drivers license to be for florida or you have a utility bill with your address on it here in Florida.

I definatley would pick Sarasota , My favorite Beaches, Gulf is alot safer to swim in too.

slpmom - is there a set "per diem" they are giving you for housing or will it be different depending on the city.
That would be one consideration to keep in mind.
We live in Jacksonville if you know the area of Jax the job would be in we could give you some more info on our city.

Correct about the property taxes. The per diem seems to be pretty much set (I think around $1,800/mo). I thought I would go ahead and let them completely handle housing (wherein I don't receive the per diem) since I don't know anything about the areas or what I would be getting into if I tried to choose my own housing.
