I feel like a prisoner in my home from June-October here in SW Florida because the of the heat and humidity. It can be 11 p.m. and the heat index can still be 90 degrees. And the sun is soooo strong here. Even the pool at my condo complex isn't cool during the middle of summer. The only thing that makes it somewhat tolerable is our daily afternoon rains which cool things off a little. I don't know how people lived here before a/c.

It has NEVER, EVER been in the 30's here in Florida in the summer. What are you smoking? :-) In the winter we have sometimes been cooler than "up north" and sometimes even in the summer we have had cooler temps than the Northeast but if we had 30 degree weather anywhere in Florida it would mean that the earth and tilted on its axis....

Another big difference in tolerating the heat is whether you are still working or employed. If you're retired you can enjoy the outdoor activities here in SW Florida that people come down here for like swimming all year round, boating, fishing, etc. If you work and have to wear a suit you can start to sweat from the minute you walk out your door until your car cools off.

I hear ya, the unrelenting heat and humidity had me in a permanent state of irritability, we had no A/C in our house or car..We some how survived until we immigrated to Canada 40 years ago .. I still dont miss that heat and humidity even in the middle of Canadas winter now, i'm a happy old grumpy guy..

I see several people on here complaining about it. Makes me have second thoughts about moving down there at all.
I guess Im gonna have to visit in July to see for myself.
Not a lot of dead bodies littering the streets in summer! Air conditioning, and swimming pools, plus lots of drinking!

It can get hot and humid but I have never felt like it was THAT big a problem and I have lived here all my life. There are places that could be much much worse. That is only my opinion.

IMO, it's very overwhelming. I don't know how people make it here with how hot it is.

Seemed pretty nice out again today. People are active all day in our neighborhood with walking, speed cycling, jogging, boating, jet skiing and at the sports fields. We are located in a densely maturely landscaped neighborhood, on a lake and only three miles from the gulf......so I think it helps with the breeze every day and having lots of shade. Big difference in feel from shade to sun.
