Going by availability of good school districts, lower crime rates and availability of things to do, I would probably go with the Melborune area, Tampa area (specifically northern suburbs or northern Pinellas), West Palm (specifically Wellington, Boca, unincorporated "west" Boynton Beach or whatever it is, Jupiter, etc), Ft. Lauderdale/Broward (specifically Weston, Parkland, Cooper City, Davie, west Pembroke Pines, etc), and the Orlando area (Seminole County ONLY).

I chose Melbourne. I'm gonna get comments for this one, but the best place to raise a family (in general, I know there are "pockets" of nice areas though) is not in S FL. I would actually put northern FL, specifically St Johns Co at the top.

My vote is for Sarasota county. I am a native to Sarasota Florida so I think I have a pretty good handle on the community. The beaches are gorgeous, the schools are excellent and we have the highest rated school in the state of Florida (Pine View), there's lots of things for the kids to do, lots of culture and arts, tons of parks, very kid friendly city.

Just an all round good place for kids

Tallahassee is easily the best place to raise a kid. Reconsider coming up here. Anyone will tell you its the best family city in the state.

And interestingly enough, "none of the above" has the most votes thus far...

I would vote the Jupiter - Tequesta - Palm Beach Gardens area.

Low crime, not too congested, excellent rated schools (Greatschools.net ranks the Jupiter system a "10"), close to the beach, lots and lots of families, diversifying economy, clean, natural beauty, and proximity to things to do. Including:

World class shopping and dining
Four international airports within a two hour drive, including the PBI airport 20 minutes away
Water sports, boating, jetskiing
Museums (Flagler, Norton, Morikami, Science, etc. etc.)
Movies
Kravis Center for the Performing Arts AND the Jupiter Maltz Theater for plays and productions
Loggerhead Outdoor Center
Palm Beach Zoo
Ice Skating, roller skating, a skate park, Rapids Water Park, Jupiter Aquatic Center

etc etc etc

No, still in the same place, Orlando. I just think it's interesting. That's all.
