If you are able to answer this question; are you referring to Savanna Preserve? I am currently in "talks" that will likely result in my relocating to Treasure Coast. PSLOldtimer is on the money with the following quote: >(PSL) ...is also becoming a research center. The Harbor Branch Foundation >has an oceanography center in St. Lucie County, the Smithsonian has a >research facility, the U of Fl and the USDA have agricultural research labs, >and the Burnham Institute is considering locating its biomedical research to >the city, in a move similar to Scripps research in Palm Beach County. Many >people live in PSL and work in other areas, including Palm Beach County. >The commute is about 45 miles on I-95. That has -my- attention,at least Anyways; I am looking very seriously at PSL (East), after extensive research of Ft. Pierce, Vero and Jupiter. Two houses near the Savanna Reserve have my attention, but I'm not sure what to expect. One of the homes is near Rivergate park. I also like the East of US1 philosophy. As somewhat of an environmentalist, I like the idea of living near the preserve, and I feel that it could decrease the odds of uncontrolled development. I'm glad to hear you enjoy the area. Any input for a newcomer? |

If you can, stick to Jupiter/Tequesta. Pricier, but worth it in most people's estimates. Fort Pierce = Crack Town. PSL was where folks who couldn't afford Jupiter/Tequesta and knew that south of PGA BLVD was bad, went back in the days when Pratt & Whitney aircraft was still open. Was a decent alternative back then. Having been away a while, I can't say how much of Fort Pierce's problems have migrated in.

Since my initial post, I've shifted my attention to Hutchinson Island. I like it quite a bit, and the map location is ideal for me. I am aware of increased insurance rates, but am more concerned with the ability to GET insurance. Meanwhile, I'm hoping that this real estate market will allow me to find a "bargain" on the Island. Matter of fact, I think I'll start a separate thread about Hutchinson! |

We are curious as to what seperates the EAST from the WEST? We hear that the West is the "better" part of PSL. If we are looking for a nice home that is in an established neighborhood and not too low income, where do you suggest?

The Florida Tpk cuts PSL almost in half. It has become custom for us to call anything west of the tpk west and east of the tpk east. The street signs pretty much follow the same rule. Where you want to live in PSL has to do with if you work from home of have to travel. Try to stay as close to your route as possible. It can take a half and hour or so to get from US-1 to I-95 if there is traffic. Saint Lucie County is over 80 SQ Miles. There are many nice places to live here. Good Luck!

If you like Thai food, try Thep Thai Restaurant and Sushi Bar in Regency Square Shopping Center at the corner of Monterey and US1 in Stuart. My wife is the manager there... Ask for Noo... They are consistently rated among the top asian restaurants on the treasure coast by the local papers...They have been there about 8 years and have a strong return customer base...They are half Thai and half Japanese plus an excellent sushi bar... Their Pad Thai is awesome and their Thep Thai Fried Rice is to die for. Tell them Bob sent you. ![]() |

Hey, speaking of Asian food...has anyone tried that new restaurant that opened in Tradition. I forget what it's called, it's behind the McDonald's. I grabbed a menu one morning, noticed they were a bit more expensive than the usual...hopefully that translates into great food.
Right now I eat at the one on Gatlin/PSL blvd. They are fine, but I'm open to more (better-and/or-closer) options. LingLing, I believe you pass it on your way home. Any info? |

I live in Tradtion myself and the restaurants here are all great. They are always busy. That alone tells me all I need to know. Even Java- the coffe shop has great sandwiches and a extremely nice. You will find me there quite often. Just tired the new Chinese restaurant and it also was good ...even at 10pm at night!
As for homes in a nice neighborhood.. there are a lot of nice neighborhoods. The newer homes are between the turnpike/Bayshore and I95. |
