I'm getting really tired of people resorting to the old "well you didn't do your homework!" response. It's impossible to know everything about a potential destination and if you'll truly adapt and learn to appreciate what it may have to offer, until you try it out. In fact, I'd say the opposite of this tired cliche is the truth - homework WAS done. Tangible, credible field research, even.

It's ok to not like a place.
That's the thing - no one can ever possibly know what it is truly like to live somewhere until they try it. I don't think most of us here have the attitude that someone "didn't do their homework" etc., if they truly found that a place did not work out. It's usually directed against the ones who just bash and paint a broad negative brush over the entire state when they end up being unhappy.

To Ken - we all know your story and that you moved back for your family etc. and you never bashed here. And besides, I am of the belief that there is no one place that suits us for our entire lives - we change as we age, and our needs change, and sometimes, well we just WANT a change!

I haven't kept up with this thread at all, but I thought I'd pop back in and say that we're still here. I still love Palm Coast, our house and our friends. I've never liked hot weather, but I've adjusted well to the weather and now I complain when it's below 70F. Really, I think moving here was probably one of the best decisions we ever made. I'm very happy.

We have been living in Florida for 10 months already.

Wow, time has flown by.

We are ready for school to be out so we can hit the beaches a lot.

Coming up on 18 months in Florida.

Amazing how time has flown by.

I am planning on doing a nice assessment of a variety of things about Florida soon.

Hoping it will help others who are planning on moving to Florida.

Pros, cons, do's and don't etc.

The most important thing I can tell those people are for us it was the time spent researching the area we wanted to live in. Then actually spending time in that city getting to know it better.

Without any doubt it made our move a success as we believe we picked a town that fitted our wants other then not being close enough to the ocean but can drive to it whenever we want helps.
