The wife and I are planning our vacation to FL in May. We'd like to try some place different. We've been to several places on the east coast, Orlando, Sanabel IS, and many times to Clearwater BE, which we love. We just want to try some place different. We love Clearwater Be as it's for tourists, but not to expensive to eat. Plus everything is within walking distance. We don't like it to quiet, but enjoy activities, restaurants, shopping, music, people, even a Walgreen's etc. I see Destin is highly recommended, not sure if it would fit us.

I'm thinking of driving, we live in NJ.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

P.S. I see another thread on here that Panama City Beach might be a good place and less expensive than Destin!!

I know you said gulf coast, but I have to say that one of Florida's best kept beaches is Anastasia Island (St. Augustine). My wife and I stayed in St. Augustine at the St. Francis Inn. It is a very small, very old B&B in the historic distric. The island is a 4 minute drive, 4 wheel drive vehicles are allowed to drive on the beach. Absolutely beautiful place. Tons of shopping and eating all within walking distance of the B&B and the waterfront is a 2 block walk to watch sunrise over the sailboats in the bay. The place is really magical. Worth checking out in my opinion, Ill be going back and I live on the gulfcoast ! Just stay away from all the touristy stuff there and ask the locals where to go.

Default Looking for place in Florida Also!

Hi, I'm planning a small family reunion in July. I'd really like to be on one of the Florida Coast lines, but not too far from Orlando (for the kids). Does anyone know of any nice and inexpensive beach front condo's that are within walking distance of shopping, resturants, fishing, and water activities? I'm also from New Jersey and ready for the long drive down
