Default Relocating to Florida. Need help.

Hello. We are a family of four. Two girls ages 7 and 4 and we are in our late twenties. We are thinking of moving from NY to Fl. I'm a Paramedic my wife is also in a medical field. We can't decide between west coast and east coast. Also we are planning to buy our first home probably a new build in a family oriented neighborhood. To us safety, jobs, and schools are very important. Any info would help a lot. Thanx every one in advance.

I am in South Florida, and just have to say good luck trying to find a new development in that price range that is decent. You may need to look in the more northern areas on the east coast of Fl, above the Palm Beach County line.

How much will your jobs pay here? Do you have a back up if for some reason yu can't get a job as a paramedic (in a lot of areas this is difficult).

What exactly does your significant other do for a living?

Money will be your deciding factor.

My wife is a certified pedorthist, she works with people that need special shoes like orthopedic or diabetic shoes. And we are planning on opening a little retail store. I'm also graduating physician assistant school soon. I have checked a couple of employment web sites, it looks like there are good jobs available in Florida.

Then maybe a mixed area with a sizeable senior population. A retail store in that type of area would probably to quite well. Maybe Jacksonville or Pensacola? I live in South FL in for the price range you're looking at you probably won't get the type of area you want.

Looking at your prices for a home, you will be able to afford a condo and some single homes in Collier County, which is Naples, Florida, on the West Coast, where I live now. The shools are all great, with the exception of 3-4.

Default Weston, FL

Weston is a great area for your girls, it has A rated schools (top 10 in the state) Also, there is a great clientel for older people in the area that are snowbirds. Weston is only about 10 yrs. old, with a town center, best playgrounds and fields I have ever seen. There is a YMCA that is the center of life for the kids. You will probably need to start out w/ 2 -3 bedroom townhome, 6 -10 years old. But developments are gated, with pools, and workout rooms. We moved here from south Jersey, and just love it. Unfortunately we are moving to Annapolis for my husband's job. Best bet is to live in a smaller home but the best community around. The ROCK and Dan Marino live in this town. It is about 20 minutes from Fort Lauderdale, and 40 minutes to Miami. email me if you have any more questions. or check out westonfl.org

Weston is great but expen$ive... I would suggest western part of Davie/Sunrise. They both are close neighbours of Weston (sometimes they even share Weston schools) and have very good schools. I was just looking up for housing for a potential buyer and found some nice single family homes for around 300K - 350K range. The same money hardly buys a nice TH in Weston and don't forget you pay hefty HOA for gated communities with tons of amenities. PM me if you have any questions and I can try to do my best.
