Lighthouse Point (northern broward)
Boca Raton (southern palm beach county)

You really need to give us more info as to what you are looking for, employment, and any other info. Then we can suggest better. Do you want an eastern (coastal) location? (typically more expensive) or do you prefer to be in the western suburbs..some of these can be very pricey too.

Default Willing to travel

My husband will be working in Mirimar but I don't want to be too close to Miami so we are willing to travel a little. I am familiar w/Broward County but have not been there in a while. Where are a lot of families moving to? What public High Schools are good? What private high schools are good?
Both my kids are athletic and looking for a good football program and basketball as well as baseball and softball. Thanks

Some of these responses are just

You specifically wrote that you are looking for a family type town, which you would want to stay west, and you specified northern Broward. That rules out Lighthouse Point as it is not near any good schools at all or any sports programs. And Jupiter Farms isn't anywhere near the locales you are looking for.

I would suggest Coral Springs, Coconut Creek (the northside), some areas of Margate, and if you can afford it, Parkland. The best high schools in Northern Broward are Douglas and Taravella in Coral Springs, so try to look for areas in their zones. For Palm Beach, I would stay on the western sides of Boca, Delray and Boynton.

Coral Springs is renowned for it youth athletic programs. There are tons of city as well as travel teams. My daughter is on one of the fastpitch travel teams. Weston and some parts of Davie are also good, but they are in south-central Broward, not north and are very expensive.
