Mine was David. I lived in Delray Beach with my parents. We lived on a finger canal a few lots off the intracoastal.

We finally evacuated when the canal overflowed into our pool.

I still remember the tree branches falling all over the place and hitting our car as we made our way to west Boynton.

David was my first too and even though it wasn't the monster it was in the Caribbean I just remember the continuous torrential downpour that just wouldn't stop!
Those of us in SFL are used to thunderstorms but they usually move and end quickly but David went on for a long time.

Never really had any in my area since 1963. Just close calls and blow bys. Worst wind i ever saw was the no name storm norm. Winds were 80mph on March 13th 1993 and that was a cold front.

Floyd in 1999. Did not hit Florida, but forced me to attempt to evacuate. Instead of evacuating, I spent an entire day in the worst gridlock traffic of my life.

I left my parents car window down during David, I was just a teenager - got in a lot of trouble for that. LOL

Matthew totaled our roof. Our new roof was completed in January. Talked with a neighbor at Lowe's last night. His roof was damaged but didn't leak so his roofer was waiting for business to slack off to do it for a better price. His new roof was scheduled for two weeks from now. Roofer put a giant blue tarp on his house.
