When are you relocating? I live four miles from Hastings and drive through there every day. There isn't much to say right now about hastings. It is in a town of a few hundred people with an area of about 1 square mile. It is in St. John's County and has one of the highest millage rates in St. John's county. Be careful if you are going straight into Hastings as the property taxes will kill you. They have had drainage problems and the people of that town have paid dearly for it. On a better note--the boom is coming. There are currently talks and meetings (serious talks) about adding several hundred houses within the city limits. Hastings is right in the middle of St. Augustine and Palatka. St. Augustine is beautiful and very old. The traffic is getting to be a real headache but downtown St. Augustine is something to behold. Palatka is more slow and laid back. Hastings is mostly agricultural with little to offer as jobs right now. A new bank is getting ready to build and quite a few businesses are looking to build as well. They just finished highway 207 and most people are expecting a major jump in the entire community. Little hastings even made the news this last year as Extreme Makeovers from ABC made a major splash and did quite a few repairs in one are of the town--one drastic improvement for one family. If you are looking to rent, good luck--few places to find. If you are looking to buy, if you buy smart you stand to make a lot of money. The town is some areas almost looks third world right now but is going to change greatly over the next couple of years. This is not a guess, it is a fact. We don't live far but the area we live at is beautiful. The St. John's river is also a sight to behold and many people in the area are drawn to it. In this side of florida, you get some colder weather but not too cold and is still small town in attitude for most of the area. If you are patient to make money and like friendly places, it will work for you.

I am doing reseach on the Hastings area.
You mention that you live 4 miles away what city is that?
I know there's Palatka and St. Augustine.
Do you have drainage problems where you live?
What other city around can i look for a comfortable living without alot of problems?

Hastings is a small town. FLagler estates is a sub division of Hastings and has three times more residents than the entire city of Hastings. I live in Flagler Estates.

Saint Augustine is a much larger city and is only some 15 miles away from Hastings to the East. Palm Coast is also a nice size city (not too big) and is around some 20 miles to the south east, Palatka (also a nice sized city not too big) is about 10 miles to the west.

The entire area IS GROWING rapidly so buying home in Hastings (in the right areas) is sure to be a good investment. Buying Land here in Flagler Estates is also a good investment as you can get 1-1/2 acre lots here for around $30,000 which allows you to Build a home, or even put in a Mobile Home (one of the few places in Florida left where you CAN put in a mobile home)..

Do a Google search for Flagler Estates or Hastings Florida to see what other information you may come up with.

Does anyone know if this area has exploded with this all this predicted new growth yet? Were all these people coming from the coast, from South Florida, or from out of state?

It'll take some time to consider it exploded, right now when you come off the highway all you see is farmland ,beautiful farmland, theres some great stores in Palatka where you can buy anything from food to furnishings, home depot,lowes,sears,etc.etc.....Palatka,is laid back, people are super nice ,it has an old school type atmosphere ,I great place to call home ,Hastings is super nice with lots of laid and Ive met some really nice people thru the internet from there,I can imagine it will grow substantially in coming years as Its one of Floridas hidden Gems.25 min from seashore,10 min to lakes and the river,,and houses are so reasonable, thats my opinion, someone else may not agree,,,,good luck in your search
