And to counter the inevitable "bitter about not getting accepted to UF?" comment, yes, I did get accepted into UF.

Heh heh.

Seriously though, does USF in Tampa offer the program your interested in?
UF (love me some gators) but UF is the Harvard of the south? It's a good public school no doubt, but I think UNC or Duke would get "Harvard of the south" if there were such thing, lol. To the OP, I'd try to go to the best school you can get into, which would be UF, easily. UCF and USF are mediocre.

"Harvard of the South" is what they call themselves.

A lot of schools call themselves that. However, either Time or US News called UF one of the "Public Ivies" and it was recently named one of the the best values in higher education based on the value of the degree vs. cost. It can be hard to get in, but not impossible, especially for someone with work experience and state residency. There is even scholarship money available.

Gainesville is a great college town and you can't beat SEC sports. There is a large Gator presence everywhere you go in the country.

Now for the bad news, summers there are awful. I grew up in South Florida and can take the heat, but being landlocked and swampy makes it oppressively humid. (Same with Orlando, Ocala, anywhere in the center.) Spend a summer there before you buy. What the previous poster said about jeans shorts is pretty funny. My son said the same thing. The locals are nice, down to earth people but yeah...jeans shorts. Hey, it's a small town.
