Default Auto Insurance in Florida

Hey there everyone.

If everything goes to plan I'm relocating to Orlando next year and I'm really looking forward to it.

However, as you can imagine, and I'm sure some of you know already know through past experience, that it is such hard work finding everything out that you need to know when moving to another country, (I'm currently in the United Kingdom).

I've done a lot of research into all different aspects of living in Florida, but I have simply no idea about Auto Insurance and the different types of insurance available, am I right in thinking it's different in every state?

I hold a full UK drivers licence for both a car and a motorbike, but only have done for a few months, and this is where I need you help.

I'm currently setting out a budget for relocating and need to know how much money I'll need to set aside for auto insurance. So I wondered if any of you kind people could tell me about the different types of insurance available and provide me with some price examples of how much insurance costs for a small family car and your average, not very poweful standard motorbike.

Thanks for your time everyone

Stephan.

Radio, Oldtimer had suggested that I do an internet search on car insurance for the area I planned on moving to. I followed his advice and discovered that our premium would even be a few dollars lower then it is in So. Dak. It not only varies by the state, but also the area that you live in. We had done a search on apartments so I already had the addy of the possible places we will live. What I did was this~I typed in "auto insurance in Florida". It gave me several options and I chose the one that gave me a quote from three different insurance companies. I submitted all the correct info about us personally because the outcome can be different if you have had accidents or DUIs,etc. But instead of listing our present addy and zip code, I put the addy of one of the apartments we plan on moving to. It gave me three quotes in about a minute. Hope this helps and you're right to be concerned about the cost of insurances. As far as homeowner's insurance~if you have a couple of homes spotted, you could do the same thing to get premium quotes on homes. Just use the addy of one of the homes you're looking at. Good luck.
