link? Seriously, what you're saying is borderline trolling.

Stop spreading lies and misinformation. For your information, Alaska is the state in this country with the highest suicide rate. Among the world, daytona beach is nowhere to be found:

Gosh...I certainly hope that isn't true!!!
I am moving BACK to Florida in 3 weeks. I have been back home in Colorado for 21/2 years now. I was on the beach from 2007 to 2008 in Vero Beach (directly on the ocean) and...had to move back home to Colorado.
Everyone (and I do mean, everyone) thought I was nuts for moving to Florida in the first place!! Now, I am coming back to live directly on the beach in Daytona. It is absolutely my favorite place in Florida. I have a fondness for being near Dunlawton. I should have never lived in Vero .
Thank gosh I will be in a secured building on Daytona Beach Shores this time as opposed to 9 acres of private beach in Vero. I know what ya'all are thinking.."are you crazy,". Maybe but, a private beach comes along with many tons of bugs (and everyone bit me!!!). Sooo much so that I had a huge tatoo on my leg to cover the scars!!! I swear!!
I will be living at the Grand Coquina ( where my sister lived until 1 week ago!!) Has anyone heard of any negatives? I am so very excited to be in a unit that has views beyond anything I have seen before!! I will miss DRY air but, I think I can handle the AC!!!
Any tips will be apprecited!!!
Thanks to all of you,
Sheridan.

I own a luxurious 2/2 Condo in Oceans Eight with spectacular views of the Beach, from Daytona Pier to Ponce Inlet Lighthouse and Halifax Inter-coastal waterway. And I can't give it away much less sell it and my Crib is currently rented. DBS is a wonderful place to live if you are done with life and ready to die. In Ocean’s Eight, I was by far the youngest and only single guy there. Most all those beautiful high rises on DBS and south to Ponce Inlet are glorified Nursing Homes. For young people and middle aged single professionals like myself Daytona is the last place you should be. However, if you are over 60, wealthy, married and retired from the NE ... then DBS is for you. Sorry to sound so negative ... just giving it to ya straight.

Tampa, Sarasota and Fort Lauderdale is tops in Florida.

California is even better if you can afford it.

Best of luck in your move to DBS.

Except that CA is utterly bankrupt even though they have some the highest taxes in the country. Why move to a state where instead of getting a yearly tax refund, you get an IOU instead?

My DW mobile home is for sale in New Smyrna Beach (over 55 community). I need to relocate ASAP. New Smyrna is just south of Daytona. It's a somewhat less crowded with a bit of a rural atmosphere.

Good Luck to all of you!

It's all about the view for me!!
We have our own business and can live anywhere. My mother and my sister live in Florida sooooo, we are moving back. Leaving in 2 weeks now!!

The Grand Coquina is really nice, and many very nice people live there.

As for neighborhoods good for Embry-Riddle students (going waayyy back to the original post), there are some very affordable decent neighborhoods near Clyde Morris and Beville. People are practically giving away their homes, places that are walking distance to the school.
