I am 22 years old I will be coming off of house arrest in July and am currently completing my AA degree at a local community college in Delaware. I am looking to relocate to south Florida to get away and continue getting my **** together. I am applying to FAU, FIU, Northwood, Johnson & Wales, USF, Tampa, & Nova SE. My first choice is FAU, but it all depends where I get accepted. I am just looking to get some information about safe areas to live (where other college students live) and general information about the schools, the areas, the nightlife, etc. I am a business major. I have visited Ft. Lauderdale, Miami, West Palm, and Jacksonville a few times each so I am somewhat familiar with the area. Any information would be greatly appreciated?

ps. any other recommended school to apply to? I like south florida but am not opposed to jacksonville area.

I finished my undergrad at FAU and went to grad school at USF. This was in the 80s.

Both have plenty of student oriented housing around campus that are safe.

Boca is primarily a wealthy retirement community that has a nice school. Traffic is hell, especially in the winter.

Tampa is a major city that has a nice, but huge school. Traffic is also bad, but remember you are in a big city.

Hi. I live in Boca and it is safe but is older in terms of people. This is more true of course in the winter due to the snow birds and in the spring/summer there is a different feel. With that though I would choose the school that will be best for your career future. You can always drive to West Palm or Miami for a night out. I have heard east Boca is younger and then you also have Delray which has a downtown. The pricing for a place to live though depending on your finances may be hard unless you will have a roommate.

I plan on having a room mate. I just want to get a feel of what area I would be more comfortable living in whether it be southeast florida or the Tampa area...
