Hi all,

Looking to relocate from Scotland to either Florida, Texas or North Carolina We've lived and worked in Florida before in 1994/95 so feel very comfortable there and holiday there often so Florida is the hot fav!

I think the choice will likely be made by jobs! Im an Occupational Therapist so there are opportunities aplenty for me whereever we go in the States and I am being sponsered for an Eb2 green card visa. My hubby however is in a more specialised field and we are not sure what the supply and demand is for his profession so I thought I thought I would ask you good people your thoughts

My hubby is a field service x ray engineer. He used to work for GE and currently works for Fujifilm (two pretty major international companies) so has lots of experience with all diagnostic imaging equip including vascular, MRI, CT and some nuclear medicine. He has also worked as an electrical engineer within healthcare environments in his hey day!

What are job opportunities like in Florida for this type of speciality would you say? I know jobs are generally not aplenty ANYWHERE in the states really, so we need to chose one where he is MOST likely to be successful in getting employment

Many thanks all

I think he's going to ahve a hard time getting sponsored for a work visa--there are a ton of unemployed US citizens that they'll lok at first.

Hi there thanks for reply Yep we've realised that him getting an H1B is highly unlikely...hence going down the Eb2 route through my job which is fortunately in high demand. If successful with an Eb2, then that will entitle him to work as its effectively a permanent resident green card. (though I do appreciate this may not go down well as you guys have a lot of unemployment there and won't like the thought of some "scotty" coming in and nicking a potential job opportunity from a US citizen. Totally understandable. Think its a worldwide problem.

But on the plus side, yer getting ME!!! *cough*
