You moved to NC for a job and got laid off?

That would be terrible. One thing about moving to another state - wherever that may be - is that what if you move for a job and get laid off?

No dh worked for a major bank and they were bought out so his job and his dept were dismantaled and the project cancelled 6 months before it was to be completed..he was there for 2 years..all his co-workers are still out of work there.. and he couldnt find anything in charlotte and we went where the job was, as we had been looking to relocate here anyhow and landed a great job here

Hey Com...don't give NJ people all the credit...some of us from NYC also think that Florida is paradise!

Anyway, not to worry, that New Yorker in Naples cancels us all out with her posts!

I hear ya, swimmom. Every time my boss gives me my paycheck the tax withholding keeps going up here in NYC. I actually asked him to keep the check and give me the withholdings.

I take that as a compliment, especially for calling me a New Yorker.

For what it is worth, in over half a century living in NYC and LI I have only known TWO families who moved to Florida. One moved back after a year and the other it was only for a temp job. They kept their house in Ct. and went back when it over, never to return.

I certainly have never known anyone beating down the doors to move to Florida.
