If you can find a job that pays $70K you'll do fine. My wife just got her RN and will make $20-22 an hour to start. I know you have experience. I don't know if they will compensate you for that. I doubt you'll have trouble getting a job.

I am also a FF/PM and can tell you the job market is very, very difficult. Your BF will need to get his certs transferred. PM will be easy. FF will be near impossible. FF reciprocity is extremely difficult. Most just give up and take the academy again.
How is the pay for Medics? He is a Captain here and I'd hate to see him lose his status, but we hate it here. He's 37 so I doubt going to the academy is going to happen . He also has his inspector(?). Are there any jobs for that?

Base medic only pay (no FF) will likely be in the low 40s.

It would be extremely rare if he started as a Captain. I doubt there are inspector jobs.

Thank you so much! Holy crap! Y'all aren't lying when you say pay in FL sucks. Is it because there's not any state income tax? Does that really even out the decrease in pay?

No, the lack of state income tax does not make up for the pay scales.

My wife is about to start full time as an RN (new grad) at $22/hr. In FL that is a fabulous salary. I get the feeling it is low compared to other states.

Here in MS the new grad pay is about $20-21/hr, but that's right out of school. I guess the medic salary advertised is base pay for new ones? I hope

to the OP's question? No Florida is not worse than Mississippi and I have driven through it many times. I can't even believe that it's an American state! Ir ranks last in almost every category regarding health, education, etc.

It is unlikely he would get hired at anything other than base pay.

There may be the rare employer that pays for experience. That would be very unusual in these tough times.
