Hello

I am moving to JAX after home sale is complete here in Midwest. I am considering buying an existing home in either the Mandarin High School area or D.U. Fletcher HS area, any advice?
I will commute to the San Marcos area for work.
Thank you.

I'm partial to Fletcher, I have heard bad things about Sandalwood HS, don't know much about Mandarin High. You may have trouble keeping your kids away from the beach since the ocean is only 3 blocks from Fletcher. Mandarin may be an easier commute to San Marco tho.

Thank you for the reply, Antiques.

I always delete home listings that are in the Sandalwood HS area. I have used the FL school ratings to narrow Mandarin and Fletcher as choices.

In Newsweek's latest list of top high schools, the only non-charter school in Jacksonville that ranked in the top 1000 was Mandarin.

thank you Fodder.

I really know nothing about Charter Schools in JaX or any other city for that matter.

I remember reading in an online news story that Duval had "wonderful charter schools". But I don't feel confident that is where I want my kids.

Whether good or bad, I guess I prefer "sterile, suburban life" while being a parent of school kids, and then revert to "bohemian, urban or beach life" when they go off to college.
