Rural cities in florida
We planned on moving to florida soon and are looking to buy 2- 5 acres of land to grow tropical fruit trees , raise chickens and a small petting zoo. Where would be a good decent quiet area to buy 2-5 acres at a reasonable price.

Do you remember the show "Green Acres"?
If that's your thing then move to Frostproof.

I love Clewiston for a Rural Florida Town, with affordable real estate but very close to three major metro area (Fort Myers, Palm Beach & Fort Lauderdale). On the Southern Tip of Lake Okeechobee & home to the largest Sugar Mill.

IT depends what kind of fruit trees you are interested in . There is a difference between the south , central and north florida...Tropical fruit trees do well only in the south part of the state. Here in my back yard (Palm Beach County) I have Mangos, Carambola, Lychies, pineapple, papaya, bananasand so on.... If you are interested in the south I would stay in the area of Lake Okeechobee, and for the north/central, I would go to Citrus County!
Good luck! Sounds good.....

As a matter of fact Green Acres is my thing. The problem is the price of land has skyrocketed everywhere.
