Yes, I don't understand the draw for the weather. You get the same hot, humid summers as South Florida, but don't get the wonderful, warm, perfect humidity winters. If I'm moving to FL, I sure as heck would want the warm winters!

Seems to be a problem every where in the country these days.

Same here, too. People are getting crazy.

I would say in South Florida you take the good with the bad. The best winters around, but in the summer you pay for it with the possibility of storms.

Yes, bugs can be bad.

I don't have much community in my area (Norfolk area of VA) I know in NJ where I'm from there's a lot more sense of community and helping each other.

That's the South's MO.

Really that's another part of the south's MO. I don't know why.

Yes, another problem with North Florida. Far too country and not much to do.

I won't say anything other then, I agree. It's gross to see people flying the Confederate flag.

I think South Florida is more your style... I wouldn't even consider living in North or even Central Florida.

I agree with you regarding the Confederate flag! That's about as close-minded as it gets in my book. Do those ignorant people flying the Confederate flag high and proud WANT to bring back the days of slavery and unequality??? I just don't get it. Not cool at all.

Yep. Of course they'll say it's to remember their heritage. I've heard it once, I've heard it a million times.

I don't think so.

This is a good read:
The Christian Nation Myth

Farrell Till, the author of your link, is a very dubious character who has an axe to grind since he chose to give up being an Evangelical Pastor for personal ulterior motives. The following link completely debunks any notion that the Founding Fathers werent Believers in Christ / the Bible and didnt want this Country to be founded on Christian ethics and principles : WallBuilders - Issues and Articles - The Founding Fathers on Jesus, Christianity and the Bible . And , if i may, id like to highly recommend this best selling featured book which even atheists have written in to say how compelling it truly was : http://www.impactapologetics.com/pro...ion=1&P_ID=264

IMO, streetcorner preaching is more about making the preacher feel all special and like they're being persecuted, and very little about effectively reaching people with their message.

The most Christian people I know are the ones who never need words to share their message.

Theres many tactful ways of indicating one needs to be right with God thru free sin forgiveness . A tactful loving Street Preacher is an example of someone whos concerned enough to take the heat for offering a convicting uncomfortable offensive message of people needing The Cross because theyre not good enough to get to heaven by pulling up on their boot straps.

Learn to deal with it or move up north.

Like any other southern area you see a lot of confederate flags, Palin stickers (Although, some people might like these first two things), and cars that have been welded together as there is no inspection to pass.
Quit whining, pack your bags and go someplace else that suits you.

I always get a kick out of posts that start with titles like this....

They proceed to complain about stuff that they knew full and well about BEFORE they moved..like who knew there was sand, palm tree, alligators and humidity in Florida...the #8 is so insulting that it's not even funny and not worth my time to respond.

And then they end with....Gee I hope no one gets offended?

Own up to your post....you created it to get a rise out of the locals.

In the original poster's defense, I do think that greater Panama City is something of a dump in general. Redeeming factors would be the lovely Frank Brown Park, some nice triathlon options, and a few stores you can't find in Destin/Ft. Walton Beach (Borders, World Market, Hobby Lobby) but overall, both Ft. Walton/Destin and Pensacola have a lot more to offer, IMO.
