Hi my husband and I are thinking of moving to FL from the northeast. We would like to be in an areawhere the high schools are good. We have a 11 and 13 year old and would like to be in a district that has a good rating for state standards and a good baseball program. Also a area with a low crime rate. Have been doing a lot a research in the Melbourne, St. Aug., and Palm Bay area. Open to any suggestions. The most important thing is the schools. Thanks

Where will you be working? That should be the first concern.

Securing a (hopefully) stable job that provides adequate income for your family , then good schools....is a good order to put things in . That doesnt negate the importance of schooling for your kids . I would examine the 3 areas you posted about and see how they pan out . Some folks here may be able to give you an idea as to the school aspect and/or you can probably find a website that has ratings for a particular school district . I wish you well , but i would not discount other neighboring states to Florida for consideration too.

Seminole County a county that makes up the Orlando Metro area has great schools, check out Lake Mary or Winter Springs both known for schools and family life.

Hope this helps,

If you're open to the concept of (relatively mild) winter, Niceville in the panhandle has a really good academic reputation and excellent youth baseball program. Would also look at the Pace area and Ft. Walton Beach for the baseball/academics combo.

I second this suggestion, and ask what other very important criteria you have for selecting an area to live in ? If you can give us , say... 5 top criteria then I think we can get you going in the right direction.
