It is a 55+ community - retirement or semi-retirement - and everything is geared for that age group. Somewhere on the other thread about the Villages, someone said they do have family areas. Go to the link I gave on the other thread and read about it. I'm sorry I just don't know if there are family subdivisions within the development.

And, yes, there are schools nearby. Maybe you don't want to limit yourself to The Villages. Look at other areas of Lady Lake, Summerfield, etc. If you get a map of Florida, look at other nearby areas in which you may be interested.

Here's one map of Florida showing counties. Click on the county of your choice and get more info.

My aunt and uncle live there and no children can live in the part they live in. Their grandkids can only visit for so long (I'm not sure how long it is) so they're not considered residents. It is a very nice place....they have thier own shopping, churches, gas stations, TV station, town square, and just about any type of entertainment you can think of. It is strictly a retirement community, but they sure do know how to live life to the fullest! I have fun every time I go to visit.
