However I thought I read somewhere on the Florida DMV website that if you are relocating to Florida, you must have your vehicles insured already before you register your vehicles. UGH!

So which is true?
you can buy insurance before the car is registered, either allstate is wrong or you misunderstood them.

FWIW: I got a great rate from progressive, allstate can be pricey

Geico was the most expensive?? Ugh! I will check out Liberty Mutual as well.
I am not even going to try StateFarm, because we used to go through them and they are SO high, its crazy, even here in Illinois.

check with every company, rates vary widely based on driving records, credit scores, where you live, cars owned and age and sex of drivers.
For example some mentioned Progressive was high for them, for me progressive was the cheapest by far. So don't go by what you see here, the more quotes you get the better your options will be

That's right. like i said in a previous comment, my quote was based on my surroundings (with one company anyways) and not necessarily my own driving record so check with many companies.

Could it be just that Geico is more expensive in Florida? I am on Long Island. I am covering both me and my 23 year old daughter (more money for under age 25 driver). I have a 2005 Elantra and she has a 1996 Saturn. We both have a discount for good drivers and have taken the defensive driving course. I drive under 10 miles a day to work. She uses it just here and there. The premium for both cars is $782 for six months.

My husband has a 2006 Civic and also insures with Geico. Same no accidents, etc. He drives about 15 miles to work. His insurance is $1,000 for six months just for his car.

The difference must be Florida rates.

What you pay for 2 cars we are paying for 3 cars. We pay $1615 a year for full coverage on a 2007 truck and just liability on a 98 grand prix and 86 conquest. My husband drives 23 miles to work one way with the new truck and i work at home so rarely drive. Last year, i only put 7000 miles on my car the entire year and i don't even know where i drove to rack up that many miles. FL car insurance is just expensive overall no matter what insurance you get or how good of a record you have. I lived in N.H. before and the premiums were almost half of what they are here.

I know Geico also gives a major discount when you insure multiple cars under the same policy. I told my husband that could be also be a factor in why his insurance is more than mine.
